I was looking for up-to-date information on the issue with Brazilian rosewood on e.g. pre-CBS Strats. I still see them on ebay with the option of wordwide shipping, to my knowledge (I even phoned authorities who confirmed this to me) it is illegal to sell them without CITES papers, and absolutely impossible to sell these into other countries (at least if leaving the US or the E.U.). Customs might confiscate the guitar, and no chance to get it back.

In the latest Premier Guitar Rig Rundown for Carlos Santana, his tech shows Santana's two main PRS Santana II's. One is his main guitar for the US, and the other is for tours outside the US. The first one (his favorite) has a solid BR neck, and the other has an Indian Rosewood neck. Apparently Carlos cannot take his main BR instrument outside the US due to the CITES laws. This was suggested to them by PRS himself. PRS built an IR guitar as close as possible to the BR one just to adhere to the CITES regulations.

Może taki Santana powinien przed każdym koncertem powiedzieć, wielotysięcznej publiczności, że nie może dla niej zagrać na swojej ulubionej gitarze bo jacyś
eko-terroryści idioci wprowadzili bzdurne międzynarodowe prawo...

Czy nie istnieją jakieś organizacje międzynarodowe muzyków lub lutników, które mogły by doprowadzić do zmiany tego prawa, a ludzi, którzy je ustanowili postawić przed trybunałem międzynarodowym za zbrodnie przeciwko kulturze światowej...

Wg CITES gdyby np obywatel brytyjski David Gilmour zapragnął kupić sobie Stratocastera z 1962 z Palisandrową podstrunnicą z USA to nie może tego zrobić nie łamiąc prawa...
